University of Helsinki

The University of Helsinki is one of the world’s top universities, ranking
continuously among the world’s top 1% universities. This, however,
wasn’t showing in the university’s brand. We started a major brand
reform to increase the awareness and attractiveness and to brighten the
profile of the University of Helsinki. The university also aimed to become
an easily approachable partner and an active social actor.

University of Helsinki’s new tagline “For the World” communicates the will
to act for the best of the world – and to become one of the world’s best
universities. Top-level research is the university’s main attraction, and
thus the idea of ”content on top” acted as a guide for all marketing
communications.

The new brand was implemented via the university’s various channels
during several years of cooperation. With the help of the reform, the
university’s image developed in the desired direction. The number of
international student applications increased by a staggering +350% from
2016 to 2021. The university’s staff and management were successfully
committed to working together for the new brand.
